The 13th International Symposium on Ostracoda was held at the University of Greenwich, Medway Campus, U.K., from 27 to 31 July, 1997. The conference organizers were David J. Horne and Ian Slipper (University of Greenwich), Alan Lord (University College London), Ian Boomer (University of East Anglia) and Jonathan Holmes (Kingston University).

The proceedings were published as special issues of three journals.
